In an unexpected twist to a highly anticipated event, the management team behind Nigeria’s controversial street-hop sensation, Portable, has come forward with a heartfelt apology to fans, event organizers, and supporters following the singer’s abrupt exit from an eagerly awaited celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha. The showdown, orchestrated by Balmoral Group, unfolded on a buzzing Friday night, met with dramatic flair but ultimately marred by controversy as Portable walked out after just the first round. His sudden decision to leave, much to the dismay of the packed audience, ultimately led to his disqualification, with Charles Okocha being declared the winner of the match under unfortunate circumstances.
Taking Responsibility: A Management StatementIn a public statement issued by the team known as Zeh Nation/Dr. Zeh, Portable’s management expressed their sincere remorse regarding the turn of events and took responsibility for any disappointment caused. The heartfelt message read:

The management went on to highlight their accountability in this matter, stating: “On behalf of Portable’s management, we take full responsibility for the disappointment this may have caused. We remain grateful for the unwavering love and support shown to him throughout this journey.”
The Reason Behind Portable’s WalkoutAfter the shocking incident, Portable took to social media to defend his choice to exit the match. According to him, the premature end to the bout stemmed from an alarming incident in the ring where he alleged that Okocha bit him during the fight. In various videos that quickly spread across social platforms, Portable asserted his position, insisting that his departure was not an acknowledgment of defeat, but rather an instinctual act of self-preservation.
“I felt unsafe,” he explained in a follow-up message. “I didn’t just walk away; I had to protect myself.” As the situation unfolded, Charles Okocha had yet to publicly respond to Portable’s biting allegation, leaving many curious about his perspective on the events.
Fans React: A Divided Opinion OnlineIn no time, the story ignited intense discussions across online platforms, quickly becoming one of the most talked-about entertainment narratives in Nigeria. Fan reactions were mixed—and passionate.
While numerous fans criticized Portable for abandoning the match, arguing that he should have displayed more sportsmanship, others expressed support for his stance, insisting that he had the right to safeguard his wellbeing if he genuinely believed the contest’s rules had been compromised.
The incident featured prominently in viral videos across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X, prompting thousands of reactions and sparking a heated debate among viewers.
Event Organizers Left DisheartenedThe celebrity boxing match had been heavily promoted as the much-anticipated rematch following their initial bout in 2023, yet Portable’s abrupt exit led to a disappointing conclusion far earlier than the ardent fans expected. Many spectators had splurged for tickets to witness what was anticipated to be an exhilarating showdown. Event officials were left with little choice but to rule Portable’s walkout as abandonment, thus sealing his fate with a disqualification. Management Promises Future ImprovementsConcluding their public statement, Portable’s management team reassured fans that they would draw essential lessons from this incident, pledging to ensure the artist returns even stronger for future engagements.Responses to the apology have been varied; while some Nigerians have applauded the management for stepping up and accepting accountability, others argue that the onus is on Portable himself to deliver a sincere public apology to his fans.
Despite the unfolding controversy, the boxing rematch has undeniably cemented its status as one of the most trending entertainment narratives of the weekend, with audiences still fervently debating the real story behind what transpired within the ring.
