Zlatan Ibile, a Nigerian musician, has talked about the challenges he faced with his parents while making a name for himself.
In a recent interview, Zlatan disclosed that his parents were originally dubious about the source of his income, especially after he bought his first house in Lekki in 2019 at the age of 25 with the intention of giving it to them as a present. They suspected that the funds may have originated from illicit operations.
“Because they believed it was fake money, my parents wouldn’t let me dwell in the first property I purchased in Lekki. To prove to them that I am being truthful, I had to publish my account statement, Zlatan said.
He also considered how rigid his upbringing had been, pointing out that his parents still had him live with them as an adult. Despite his growing notoriety, they placed restrictions on his way of life, including curfews and personal preferences.
Later on, they informed me that if they had to come, they would pray for seven days to make sure it was from God. They demanded that I live with them when they eventually consented to move in,” he continued.
Online conversations have been sparked by the singer’s story; some have expressed sympathy for the difficulties of rigorous African parenting, while others have praised his parents for their support during his triumph.
