Veteran Nollywood actor, Sunday Afolabi, recently shared an anecdote about a significant financial decision he made, which led to an unexpected personal challenge. In an interview conducted on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, with the media outlet TALK TO B, Afolabi disclosed that he had to sell his Nissan Quest, a vehicle he presumably relied on, to purchase a Bajaj Okada motorcycle. This abrupt transition to motorcycle transportation was not without its difficulties, as the actor admitted to experiencing multiple falls due to his lack of experience in riding such a vehicle. He elaborated on the underlying motivation for this drastic change, explaining his deep-seated discomfort with accumulating debt.
Afolabi expressed a strong aversion to borrowing money when he had no clear timeline for repayment, stating that he only felt at ease borrowing when he had an imminent financial inflow that would allow him to settle the debt promptly. This aversion to being in arrears, coupled with his desire for financial independence, propelled him to divest from his car and acquire a motorcycle, even though it presented a steep learning curve and resulted in several embarrassing tumbles. “I am always scared to borrow when I don’t know when to pay back,” Afolabi candidly stated.
“It is different when I am expecting something and I want to borrow till I will get it. I am always scared when I am owing, so I decided to sell my Nissan Quest and bought Bajaj Okada. Something bad started happening because I wasn’t used to it. I fell several times. I fell many times.” This poignant account highlights the actor’s commitment to financial prudence, even at the cost of initial physical discomfort and a period of adjustment.
