Davido shared his father’s warning against entering politics and his response.

Renowned Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, widely recognized by his stage name Davido, has divulged that his father had previously cautioned him against engaging in political endeavors and governmental affairs. This revelation came to light during a live online conversation with streamer Dravel, as reported by Naija News. The discussion specifically centered on Davido’s active involvement in the ongoing Osun gubernatorial election, where his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking a second term in office under the banner of the Accord Party. Davido recounted that his father expressed considerable apprehension regarding his foray into the political arena.

However, the popular musician reassured his father, emphasizing his significant public profile and the widespread affection and support he commands among the Nigerian populace. Davido conveyed his unwavering conviction that his participation would be instrumental in achieving the desired electoral outcome, expressing strong confidence in their eventual success.Furthermore, the “Fall” crooner leveled accusations against certain individuals on social media, alleging that they were accepting payments of ₦100,000 from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disseminate pro-party content on the platform now known as X (formerly Twitter). He asserted his awareness of those purportedly involved in this alleged arrangement and criticized the APC, claiming they are incapable of facilitating a free and fair electoral process.

Davido posited that the APC is acutely aware of its potential to lose the election, which he believes drives their reliance on intimidation and violence. He unequivocally stated that such tactics would not be tolerated during the upcoming Saturday polls. Demonstrating immense optimism, the singer projected a victory for his camp following the August 15th election, asserting that such a triumph would serve as a beacon of hope for Nigerians. He elaborated on his father’s concerns, recalling his plea for Davido to distance himself from politics.

“My daddy doesn’t want me to attach myself with politics and government,” Davido stated, “but I told him not to worry that I’m Davido, I’m loved, we’re going to do it.” He then directly addressed the alleged social media influencers, declaring, “All of una wey don collect 100k gig from APC on Twitter, I know you all.” Reiterating his criticism of the APC’s electoral strategy, he added, “APC can’t have a free and fair election, they know they’ll lose and that’s why they use violence. This time around, we won’t agree.” Looking ahead with certainty, he concluded, “By next week, we’ll be victorious. We’ll give Nigerians hope. Osun State money will stay in Osun, and not Lagos or Abuja.”
