Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, has reaffirmed his support for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and rejected rumors that he could move to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor, who also holds the role of Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, has recently been the focus of rumors that he may be thinking about leaving the opposition party, with some speculating that this may happen this week.
Shortly after overseeing the swearing-in of 17 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries at the Government House in Bauchi on Wednesday, Mohammed downplayed the rumors and emphasized that he had made no formal declaration signaling any intention to leave the PDP.
Reiterating his ongoing party membership, he insisted that the reports are untrue.
“I find it funny that people are talking about me as if I’ve moved even though I haven’t said anything officially,” he remarked.
