Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, better known by his stage as Baba Ijesa, has talked about his time in detention, including how prisoners interact with their family and attorneys. On Sunday, March 22, 2026, the actor revealed the information in an interview with Talk To B Podcast.
Baba Ijesa clarified widespread misconceptions regarding phone access in correctional facilities throughout the meeting by outlining the communication method available to inmates: “Let me support your position. I always inform everybody who calls or comes to visit me at the prison, you know. People don’t think that the government arranged for us to have phones in prison.
Correctional officials are present during chats, he said, and communication is monitored and organized. He claims that the process adheres to established protocols within the jail and that prisoners are only permitted to speak with a certain amount of people.
“There’s a phone booth that you can communicate with your family, your lawyers,” he continued. We do talk to people, but there is a process, you can only get in touch with two or three people, and it’s not secret. The correctional officials are paying attention to what you have to say.
When Baba Ijesa described a previous visit from the host while he was in detention, the conversation took an emotional turn. As he thought back on the incident, he became obviously overwhelmed. I was shocked when you came to see me. Do you know why? since it has been a while since we last saw one another before the problem.
