Renowned Nollywood actor and producer, Kunle Omisore, has disclosed a rather extraordinary personal experience, claiming he was once invited to a clandestine meeting of a witchcraft coven. This remarkable invitation, Omisore revealed during a recent appearance on the African A-List Podcast, was extended to him with the specific purpose of mediating a dispute that had arisen between one of the group’s members and himself.According to Omisore’s account, the summons to this unusual gathering followed an alleged accusation leveled against him by a member of the occult group.
He stated that he was compelled to attend the meeting to address this accusation and present his side of the story.During the interview, Omisore also shared his perspectives on how witches are often depicted in Nollywood productions. He asserted his belief in the actual existence of witches, drawing a direct connection to his own alleged encounter with such a group.
“Witches exist,” Omisore emphatically stated. “I have gone to a meeting with witches before and came back to the house. Yes, they invited me. I went to settle a dispute.”He elaborated on the nature of the accusation, explaining, “One of them reported me. She said I offended her, and I was summoned. I went to explain my own side of the issue. I don’t really understand the allegation, but she accused me of ruining something that belongs to her.”Omisore recounted his interaction with the group’s leadership, stating, “And I told their leader that I have never met her before, nor did I ruin anything that belonged to her.”
He then offered a vivid description of the scene he witnessed within the meeting, noting, “I saw many people that were tied there. Some were carrying calabashes on their heads.”Reflecting on the disparity between his real-life encounter and cinematic portrayals, Omisore critiqued the typical on-screen depiction of witches. “So basically, if I want to shoot a movie with a witch character, I have never seen a witch that paints their face like the one in a Nigerian movie. The ones that I saw wore Iro and a buba dress,” he concluded, emphasizing the more traditional attire of the individuals he encountered.
