Actress and director Toyin Abraham received a Box Office Champion Award from the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) on Thursday. Abraham is now the first new filmmaker to earn more than N1 billion at the box office.

The milestone is monumental for Nollywood, according to NFVCB Executive Director Shuaib Husseini.

“As we celebrate excellence and remarkable achievements within Nigeria’s film industry, it is my honor to welcome you,” he remarked.

Husseini pointed out that the accomplishment shows Nollywood’s tenacity and promise on a global scale.

This achievement is evidence of the industry’s increasing power as well as a personal victory, he continued.

He stated that the board is still dedicated to fostering a vibrant film industry that both amuses and boosts the country’s economy.

Husseini praised Abraham for motivating a new wave of filmmakers.

He remarked, “You have inspired others to dream bigger and entertained millions.”

Sanusi Yakubu, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, commended Abraham’s influence in a letter of goodwill. Don Pedro attended the occasion on behalf of Yakubu.”We are here to commemorate a significant occasion rather than just to bestow an award.

The success of her film indicates that Nigerian narratives are gaining international recognition. Actors are becoming into full-spectrum artists, he remarked.

Taking home the prize for her film “Oversabi Aunty” Abraham commended her husband for being a decent parent and man.

“Thank you for being the best husband,” she added. I appreciate you letting me be who I am.

She also thanked NFVCB for the honor.

My mother claims that I passed out, but this is who I am now. I’m simply that girl. And I’ll offer you something greater and better, December, I swear. I expressed to my management my desire to helm this film entirely on my own. I informed Mrs. Bolanle Austin-Peters, my godmother in the industry, that I wanted to make a film,” she stated.

The actress said she was thrilled to see one of her goals come true and thanked her crew. Olori Temitope Ogunwusi, the wife of Ife’s Ooni, and other industry participants attended the ceremony.
