I must be honest with you: I watch movies for a living, but until lately, I didn’t like historical dramas. Even though I like studying history in school, I didn’t particularly enjoy watching what was written in my textbook come to life. Was it because the landscapes and sets didn’t match the story I imagined? Or how some of the most well-known historical characters were depicted by the actors? Or perhaps, just possibly, I was bored because I was only a teenager.
In any event, it took me a while to adopt a different perspective on historical films. Finding the finest of the best was actually necessary for me to get interested in the genre, and I believe the options I compiled will pique your interest as well. There is something on this list for everyone, whether you want to learn about the life of religious leaders, relate the story of one of the fathers, or even delve into the realm of European monarchy. To be honest, my personal favourites are 42, Hamilton, and The Normal Heart, but I also took sure to add films that showcase various historical periods. Are you prepared to travel back in time with me now?
