“Tell Sunday Igboho that there is nothing he can do about me being in front of his house”—Sowore

According to a video posted on his official YouTube account, activist and politician Omoyele Sowore challenged Yoruba self-determination leader Sunday Igboho in a fiery public statement that has garnered significant attention throughout Nigeria’s political landscape. Sowore stated that he would not be intimidated by threats intended to stifle political activity in the southwest.

Igboho appeared to say in a widely circulated video that political campaigning in favor of opposition politicians, like as former vice president Atiku Abubakar and leader of the Labour Party Peter Obi, should not take place in Yorubaland before to the 2027 general elections. According to local media, Igboho has reportedly vowed to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and cautioned others not to oppose his policies in the area.

Citing his prior experience challenging security forces on behalf of Igboho’s fans, Sowore stated in a video uploaded to his official YouTube account that neither he nor others will be frightened.

“Tell him (Sunday Igboho) that I’m in front of his house and that he can’t do anything about me or anybody else,” he said. When Sunday Igboho was attacked by the Buhari regime, I was the only one who went to the federal high court to meet the people who had been arrested from his home after he had left Nigeria, and that was the day they were granted bail. In other words, I used to believe that Sunday Igboho had some consciousness. I got into a fight with the DSS outside the courtroom.
