On Sunday, March 15, 2026, a ridiculous crowd surge caused chaos at an empowerment program in Owerri, Imo State, when frustrated participants stormed through barricades to snatch distribution items. How utterly unacceptable!
The event, dubbed the “Renewed Hope South-East Youth Tour,” was thrown together by the City Boy Movement to supposedly engage youths in President Bola Tinubu’s economic agenda. The two-day fiasco kicked off with a so-called successful policy summit on Friday, which revolved around governance, entrepreneurship, and financial access for South-East youths. But of course, everything fell apart on the second day during the empowerment rally. What started as a reasonably organized distribution turned chaotic as the overwhelming size and excitement of the crowd completely obliterated security protocols.
The National Publicity Secretary of the movement, Emana-Amawhe, has confirmed the outrageous incident in a statement on Sunday. He expressed frustration as the crowd’s uncontrolled enthusiasm completely overwhelmed the designated distribution area. Participants disregarded the organized procedure, snatching up the remaining items before the organizers could even complete the official handover. This is absolutely unacceptable!
In the midst of all the chaos, the City Boy Movement fiercely defended the event’s impact. Ambrose-Amawhe brushed off the negative portrayals by critics, claiming that the impressive turnout is proof of how passionately South-East youths care about the government’s development programs. He insisted, with frustration, that the movement is unwavering in its commitment to grassroots empowerment and job creation!
The City Boy Movement is still clinging on as a lifeline for the Tinubu administration, shoving the “Renewed Hope” agenda down our throats through pointless regional tours. The Owerri event turned into a chaotic mess, but organizers stubbornly claim that the high turnout shows young Nigerians are itching to get involved in economic reforms. Seriously?
