Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has shared a deeply emotional account of the moments leading up to a major surgery, revealing that she had mentally prepared herself for the possibility that she might not survive the procedure.Speaking during an interview on the Awesome Family Podcast, Ogbodo recalled embracing her husband shortly before she entered the operating room.
In that painful moment, she asked him to look after their children if she failed to return home. She explained that the situation felt particularly intense because she had already confronted the possibility of death and was trying to remain emotionally prepared for whatever might happen.According to Ogbodo, her husband was visibly afraid and carrying tremendous emotional pressure. He had initially been reluctant to support the operation because of the risks involved and the anxiety surrounding it.
However, Ogbodo said she remained determined to proceed because she had reached a point where continuing to live under her existing circumstances no longer felt possible. She explained that she had begun to feel as though her identity and sense of self were gradually slipping away. In her view, the surgery was necessary, even though its outcome was uncertain and potentially life-threatening. Rather than allow fear to make the decision for her, she chose to confront the situation directly and accept the consequences, whatever they might be.
Before entering the operating theater, Ogbodo held her husband tightly and asked him to assume responsibility for their children in the event that she did not survive. Although she acknowledged the seriousness of the danger, she said she had already convinced herself that the surgery had to work. Her determination reflected both her emotional preparation and her belief that the procedure offered her the best chance of moving forward.Ogbodo described the decision as one of the most important and difficult choices she has ever made.
At the time, she felt she had very little left to lose, which strengthened her resolve to undergo the operation. Her account also highlighted how strongly her thoughts were focused on her family, particularly the welfare of her children, even as she faced a potentially life-changing medical procedure.Despite the fear, uncertainty, and emotional strain surrounding the operation, Ogbodo went ahead with it. Her experience illustrates the heavy psychological burden that can accompany major surgery, especially when a person must consider the possibility of leaving loved ones behind. For her, the moment was far more than a routine medical appointment or procedure.
It became a quiet and painful farewell to her husband as she prepared for the possibility that she might never return home. The conversation she shared with him before entering the operating room remains one of the most moving parts of her story.
