Nigerian government does not want me to contest the presidential election – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate and leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that the federal government is trying to keep him from running for president in 2027.

Obi made the accusation while advocating for an open and reliable electoral process. In a video, Obi addressed a group of Nigerians and discussed his political path while thinking back on previous difficulties.

He mentioned that he has faced legal challenges and political exclusion.

“I’ve worked in this extremely challenging field where people totally deserted you for a single election. I was in court for three years without anyone following me.

“I have been removed from office twice, impeached, and sent back to my village where nobody wanted to see me,” he declared.

He continued by saying that these encounters had equipped him for upcoming difficulties.

“Therefore, I won’t miss anything.” “Everything that has been said about me is not new,” he remarked.

Obi went on to say that the federal government is working to prevent him from running for president in 2027. “The Nigerian Federal Government does not want me to run for president in 2027.

We’re not asking for much. We just want a free and fair election; they already have the ministers and governors,” he stated.

Additionally, he proposed that powerful people have easier access to powerful networks.

They possess every contact. We don’t know the king and queen, but they do. “They have everything,” he continued.
