ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, who serves as the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), has provided an explanation on the inadvertent transfer of N100 million into the bank account of Victor, who is the son of Kayode Egbetokun, who is stepping down as Inspector-General of Police. As soon as the son of the departing IGP spotted and reported the transaction, he stated that it was swiftly stopped.Following an internet allegation that claimed the monies come from the security vote account of the Anambra State Government, Hundeyin provided the clarification on the program Politics Today that is broadcast on Channels Television on Monday.
The statement made by Hundeyin was as follows: “You could remember when he (Omoyele Sowore) said that N100 million was paid into the account of the son of the Attorney General.” To have a better understanding of what was going on, I immediately called the son of the IGP, and he provided me with an explanation. As soon as he saw that he had N100 million in his account, he instructed his accounts officer to immediately reverse the money, which he successfully did.In addition to doing the right thing by reporting the transaction, he also terminated the account in order to prevent any such errors from occurring, according to him.A copy of his statement of account was printed out by him.
He showed me. The young man was forced to close down the account. He has sent a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for that accusation to be investigated,” the police spokesman stated.
Hundeyin stressed that the transaction was a banking error that had nothing to do with Victor or his father and the money was immediately returned to the state government’s account from which it originated.
