JUST IN: Jumoke Akinjide, a former minister, leaves the PDP

Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, a former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister of State, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Akinjide explained her judgment, which went into effect right away, in a letter to the Ward Chairman of PDP Ward 1, Ona Ara Local Government, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Akinjide, who joined the party in 2001, conveyed her appreciation for the experiences and opportunities she had while there, including the platform for political activity and office.

She hoped the celebration would continue to be successful.

Akinjide’s departure follows a period of conjecture on his standing within the party.

“I hereby formally give you notice of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” the letter stated.

Considering that I have been a party member since 2001, this decision was not made lightly.

“After much introspection, I made this tough choice.

“I am appreciative of the chance I had to join the party as well as the connections and experiences I had while I was a member.

“I wish the party continued success and am grateful for the opportunity to participate in politics and hold public office.

“I’m grateful.”
