Nigeria’s number 1 bleach brand, Hypo Bleach, has issued an official statement to tackle the misuse of its product. This follows the viral incident involving Nigerian influencers, Mukoro Michelle, popularly known as King Mitchy. Additionally, it involves the self-acclaimed activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
In a post on Instagram, the company clarified that “Hypo is not for drinking.” They added that “hypo is not a drink. It is not something to consume for the sake of trends.” Addressing the recent viral posts displaying hypo as a drink or beverage, the company spoke about those images.
They maintained that “those images are fabricated.” The company also stated that “the framing is false.” They also reiterated that their product should not be consumed for trends. They stressed that it poses great risk to lives.
The company advised influencers, bloggers, and content creators to focus on amplifying positive things. They should not promote substances that are not for public consumption.
They urged the public to value their mental health. People should get professional help if they find issues affecting their wellbeing or those around them. Recall that King Mitchy was recently involved in a social media spat with activist VeryDarkMan. After the backlash she faced from the fans of VDM, she resorted to drinking hypo during a Tiktok live session.
Hours later, her management announced the news of her alleged demise. They revealed that she suffered a critical condition before passing away at Prime Care Hospital, Abuja.
Prime Care Hospital management issued a disclaimer. They described the information as “false.” They clarified that she was never a patient in their hospital. She also did not pass on in their facility.
