A 54 year old Ghanaian woman has finally broken decades of silence to share a heartbreaking story of abuse allegedly suffered at the hands of her own father, a man who later became a well known church pastor. Watch full report
According To NewsVista Reporter, Afua Kesse Amponsah revealed that her ordeal began at just two years old after her Ghanaian father took custody of her from her Irish mother in 1971. She believes the move was motivated by personal gain, not love for a child.
She said the abuse started early and worsened over time, triggered partly by her being left handed, which her father allegedly tried to correct through brutal violence. She claimed she suffered severe injuries and was forced to take aspirin mixed with water after beatings to hide swelling.
As an adult, she was diagnosed at St Thomas Hospital with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She later reported the abuse to UK police, but no case could proceed because her father had died.
Now living with disabilities, she says she is speaking out to challenge harmful attitudes toward discipline and failures of institutions meant to protect children.
