Court Sentences Winners Chapel Pastor To Death

A High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has sentenced a resident pastor ofLiving Faith Churchalso known as Winners Chapel to death for murder. Watch full report

According To NewsVista Reporter, Justice Gabriel Ette on Thursday found Prince Emmanuel Umoh guilty of killing his landlord, Gabriel Bassey Edward, a 500 level Civil Engineering student of the University of Uyo. Edward later graduated with First Class honours, with his results released after his death.

Court evidence showed the incident happened on December 21, 2020 at Ifa Ikot Ubo. Neighbours heard loud cries of Jesus before the pastor was seen leaving the compound in blood stained white clothing. Edward was never seen alive again.

His decomposing body was discovered on December 26, 2020 wrapped in a mat with deep cuts and a butcher’s knife nearby.

Investigations revealed rising tension over rent and missing household items after the pastor was given a spare key to the flat. The court ruled the murder was proven beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced the pastor to death by hanging.
