El-Rufai Reveals Significant Information: “ICPC Advised Me to Exit Politics or Face Detention

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has shockingly accused the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) of pressuring him to give up politics while he was detained.

El-Rufai said in a comprehensive criminal complaint submitted to a court that he was advised to refrain from political activity by high-ranking commission officials in order to restore his freedom.

Musa Adamu Aliyu, the chairman of the ICPC, and four other officials are named in the roughly thirty-page document.

The former governor claimed that the demand was made while he was in detention, according to the supplied documents.

He asserted that he was made well aware that his release was contingent upon his agreement to cease his political involvement. The complaint’s Paragraph 12 contained the claim.

El-Rufai claimed in that portion that the policemen followed orders they thought came from the commission’s leadership. The supporting affidavit contained more information. His legal team clarified that the pressure was not an isolated incidence in paragraphs 22 to 24.

They claimed that the former governor was constantly cautioned that continuing to be involved in politics could result in an extension of his incarceration. Additionally, he was allegedly informed that his release would be guaranteed if he moved elsewhere.

El-Rufai claimed that this kind of requirement infringes against his fundamental rights. He claimed that no government could compel a citizen to abstain from political engagement in order to grant them freedom.

The claim is included in the lawsuit’s sixth count. It charges the officers with improper detention with the intention of coercion.

The filing claims that Sections 264 and 267 of the Penal Code apply to the offense. He is now requesting that the court examine the ICPC officials’ activities.

He maintains that the claimed behavior is an attempt to stifle his constitutional rights and constitutes abuse of authority.

The ICPC has not yet responded to the accusations in an official manner as of the time this story was filed.
