In an emotional conversation with Chude Jideonwo on the programme With Chude, Nigerian physician Dedun Oluwo revealed a personal tale about her failed marriage.

In her emotional speech, Dedun revealed that she married in 2020 with optimism, right before the global upheaval brought on by the COVID-19 epidemic. She described the early phase of their relationship as exciting and full of promise, looking forward to a protracted period of happiness and emotional fulfilment.

However, she said that when communication issues arose, the relationship progressively began to deteriorate. She claimed that it became evident that she and her spouse had different emotional requirements since she yearned for greater emotional intimacy while her husband appeared to prioritise physical closeness. She clarified that this disparity led to an increase in tension and worry.
The turning point came in April 2021 when she discovered indications of infidelity. She remembered looking at her husband’s phone as he slept and seeing texts that validated her worries. She revealed that this startling insight caused her to feel quite uneasy and marked a significant shift in their marriage.
Dedun said that this circumstance significantly affected her mental and emotional well-being, leading to a period of withdrawal and adversity. She emphasised the necessity of pausing at that period to reflect, heal, and focus on personal growth.
The marriage finally ended in 2022, despite their best efforts to patch things up and start over. Her narrative highlights the significance of self-awareness, emotional connection, and communication in preserving wholesome relationships while shedding light on the frequently unseen challenges that people face in marriages.
