2Face Idibia: Nigeria Is Doing Better Now

The Punch reported on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, that renowned Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, also known by his stage as 2Baba, has sparked a contentious discussion on social media after making recent remarks on the country’s situation.

The musician asserted that Nigeria is in a “better” situation now than it was many years ago in an interview with Wazobia TV.

The host started the discussion by bringing up 2Baba’s iconic hit song, “E Be Like Say,” pointing out that the social and political problems that the song addressed years ago still seem to affect the nation today.

The singer responded to the comment with an unexpectedly upbeat statement: “We are better off than many years before. Take a peek at it.

For Nigerians, many of whom are currently dealing with rising inflation, security issues, and economic pressure, this comment has swiftly become a focal point.

While some admirers applauded his optimistic view, others were shocked and questioned whether his evaluation was in line with the everyday challenges faced by the typical person.

The musician talked about his future in politics and activism in addition to the situation of the nation. He stressed that he is still dedicated to having a personal effect even though he has moved away from some roles that needed rigorous neutrality.

He said, “I will set up my own position and attempt to make a difference,” and that wherever he goes, he sees himself as a “self-appointed ambassador” for Nigeria.

The seasoned performer stressed that he is aware of his position and will keep using his position to advocate for change in his own unique manner.
