Pius Akutah, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, on Sunday called upon the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State to back President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign for the 2027 presidential election. This appeal was made during his visit to former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom’s residence, where party leaders convened for an expanded caucus meeting in the state. The information was released in a statement from Akutah’s Personal Assistant on Media, Solomon Amande, in Abuja on Sunday.During the meeting, Akutah emphasized that his visit was intended to express solidarity with PDP leaders and members who have already demonstrated support for President Tinubu’s administration and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

My presence here is focused on aligning with both leaders and members of the PDP who have expressed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume,” the statement indicated.Akutah also recognized Ortom for his leadership during his tenure as governor of Benue State, highlighting the former governor’s significant contributions in advocating for the state’s interests.

He emphasized that Ortom advocated for strategic partnerships to enhance collaboration, enabling accelerated development and addressing the security challenges facing the state.Additionally, the Shippers’ Council chief highlighted projects launched by the Tinubu administration in Benue, suggesting that these initiatives should motivate residents to back the president’s re-election efforts.

“I personally visited to encourage esteemed leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party to consider President Bola Tinubu as their candidate for the 2027 presidential election,” he stated.Akutah also discussed his political aspirations, emphasizing that the push for the Kwande axis to supply the next governor of Benue State is gathering traction in anticipation of the upcoming electoral cycle.

As a descendant of Kwande, I am ready to offer my services in leadership, should the opportunity arise,” he stated. He emphasized his extensive experience and qualifications necessary to spearhead development initiatives in the state, safeguard citizens and assets, and foster economic prosperity for the community.According to PUNCH Online, Akutah has recently been involved in various political and civic engagements that extend beyond his official regulatory responsibilities.

He has openly advocated for support of Tinubu in advance of the 2027 general elections, notably in regions like Benue. As Nigeria’s political arena continues to evolve, the trend of rallies and goodwill visits by federal appointees aiming to forge alliances with opposition-led state leaders is increasingly becoming a standard practice in pre-election strategies. In the south-east and various other areas, numerous political stakeholders have publicly pledged their support for Tinubu’s bid for re-election, highlighting the complex political landscape leading up to the 2027 elections.
