Kenneth Okonkwo shares his activities in Abuja after spending 14 years in his Lagos duplex.

In a candid interview with Symfoni TV on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, acclaimed actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo vehemently refuted any claims of soliciting rent payments from individuals. He clarified that his prudent financial planning, which involved acquiring significant property holdings prior to his active political engagement, was a deliberate strategy to ensure his autonomy and independence in his political decision-making. Okonkwo articulated that this foresight was crucial to upholding the core principles that underpin his political endeavors, emphasizing the paramount importance of maintaining an uncompromised stance.During the broadcast, Okonkwo recounted his journey, stating, “The first thing you said when you came to my house that this house is so lovely.

I said thank God. Before I entered active politics, I built all the houses that I need before I came to PB.” This statement underscored his proactive approach to financial self-sufficiency, a move he described as a conscious effort to cultivate his own distinct opinions and avoid any form of political indebtedness to specific individuals or party structures. He further elaborated on his commitment to his principles, asserting, “’Cause I wanted to be an independent person with my own opinion because I made it clear from the one that my loyalty is to Nigeria, to Nigerian people and the constitution and my conscience and the commandment of God and I am not going to move away from this.

So my loyalty is not a political party or to a politician or to but to Nigeria.” This declaration highlighted his unwavering dedication to national interests and ethical governance above partisan allegiances.Reinforcing his financial independence, Okonkwo reiterated his denial of ever seeking rent assistance from anyone. He attributed this financial security to his early acquisition of properties.

“So I have never asked for rent from anybody since I was born because one by the grace of God I lived in my father’s house, finished university, went and lived in my own in Lagos,” he explained. He provided a specific timeline, noting that by 1994, he had already settled into his personal duplex located at number five Copam Street, Ajao Street in Lagos, where he resided for fourteen years. Subsequently, upon his relocation to Abuja, he commenced the construction of additional houses, further solidifying his financial standing and independence.
