🚨 Attention Residents of Delta State! A Major Clampdown on Illegal Revenue Collection is Underway! 🚨
The Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS) has taken a bold and definitive stand against illegal roadblocks and unauthorized revenue collection on the state’s highways and roads. In a recent press release issued by the agency’s management, it was clearly stated that offenders caught engaging in these unlawful activities will face the full force of the law. This move comes in response to alarming reports of unauthorized individuals, groups, and even some local government agents taking advantage of unsuspecting motorists, extorting them under the pretense of collecting taxes.
DSIRS has reiterated that such acts are not only illegal, but they also violate established tax laws designed to protect citizens and maintain fairness in revenue collection. To ensure clarity and reinforce the rule of law, the agency is making it loud and clear: any unauthorized revenue collection effort will result in significant legal repercussions.
In addition, the agency wants to dismantle any misconceptions regarding road tax collection for the upcoming 2026 fiscal year. DSIRS has stated unequivocally that no tax consultants have been appointed for this purpose. This means that all residents, government agencies, and local authorities should be aware that there are currently no approved or renewed appointments for road tax consultants, agents, or private collectors leading up to 2026, until the new Delta State Internal Service Law is formally approved.
In light of this crackdown, the Revenue Service is rallying support from security agencies, government institutions, and the public to help enforce this crucial directive. All residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any sighting of illegal revenue collection, be it roadblocks or extortion attempts, directly to the DSIRS headquarters in Warri or the nearest law enforcement agency.
DSIRS is taking this a step further by calling on key stakeholders such as security agencies, the judiciary, and the Police Force to actively pursue and prosecute those blocking highways to demand illegal road levies or impersonating tax consultants. Together, we can put an end to these unscrupulous practices that undermine the integrity of our revenue systems.
As the Delta State Internal Revenue Service, we are unwavering in our commitment to transparency, adherence to national fiscal frameworks, and fostering a business-friendly environment in Delta State. We want to ensure that our roads are safe and that the revenue collection process is both fair and lawful.
Let’s stand together against exploitation and protect our rights as citizens! Report any illegal checkpoints or suspicious tax consultancy claims immediately. Your voice matters, and together we can uphold the law and ensure a fair, lawful community for all. 💪✊
