SportChelle excludes Osimhen and Lookman from Portugal friendlies!

In a recent announcement that has caught the attention of soccer fans everywhere, Éric Chelle, the head coach of the Super Eagles, has confirmed that key players Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman will not be part of the squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Poland and Portugal, as reported by DAILY POST.

The Super Eagles are set to take on Poland in a highly anticipated match in Warsaw this Wednesday, followed by a challenging clash against former European champions Portugal in Lieira on June 10th. Both of these matches present significant opportunities for the team to gauge their performance against top-tier international competition.

Just two weeks prior, both Osimhen and Lookman were initially named in Chelle’s squad, raising hopes among fans for a thrilling display. However, circumstances have shifted, leading to this unexpected decision.

Chelle disclosed that Atletico Madrid has formally requested Lookman to be excused from participating in the friendlies due to fatigue. This raises concerns about the rigors of international play and the importance of player wellness. Regarding Osimhen, the situation is quite different; Chelle revealed that the talented forward is in the midst of important negotiations concerning his future with Galatasaray. Recognizing the potential uncertainty surrounding Osimhen’s club situation, Chelle made the strategic choice to allow him to remain home to ensure he is completely focused and fit for the upcoming season. “We miss two players because Victor Osimhen maybe he is about to change clubs, so I prefer he stays at home,” the Malian coach explained to the Super Eagles media. “If he plays and is not at 100 percent, that’s not good for him or the team.”

On a brighter note, the Super Eagles recently celebrated a triumphant victory, having clinched the Unity Cup in London this past Saturday with a resounding 3-0 win over Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz in the final match. This victory has undoubtedly boosted the morale of the team ahead of their upcoming challenges against Poland and Portugal, showcasing their talent and determination on the international stage.

Fans and observers alike will be keenly watching how the Super Eagles adapt to these latest changes in their lineup as they prepare to face off against formidable opponents in friendlies that promise to be thrilling spectacles.
