一名52岁的嫌疑人Ndibe Jude Onyenwe据称承认收受N500,000雇佣四名枪手发动致命袭击,据报告在Anambra州Awka North地方政府区的Urum造成六人严重枪伤。
该嫌疑人的供述是在他被Onitsha的尼日利亚陆军军营302炮兵团人员逮捕并移交至Anambra州警察指挥部后做出的。
州警察公共关系官员SP Tochukwu Ikenga在周四向记者发布的一份声明中确认,嫌疑人于2月5日被移交指挥部,涉及一项正在进行的调查,涉及阴谋、未遂绑架、严重枪伤和谋杀。
警方发言人在声明中称,初步调查显示,嫌疑人据称与Felix Godwin及其他目前在逃人员合谋,资助武装分子发动伏击,目标是无辜的公众。
据PPRO称,在审讯中,嫌疑人据称供认,Felix Godwin通过Access Bank账户转账了五十万奈拉(₦500,000),用于雇佣来自Ayamelum地方政府区的四名枪手发动此次袭击,并补充说,一名姓氏尚未确定的Emeka来自Urum社区,据称领导了这次袭击。
此外,SP Ikenga称嫌疑人据称透露,除了₦500,000之外,Felix Godwin还额外给他提供了三十万奈拉(₦350,000),用于购买四包实施行动所用的弹药。
“During the deadly ambush, six persons sustained serious bullet injuries,” the PPRO stated, adding that the suspect is currently undergoing further interrogation as investigations continue, while efforts are in top gear to apprehend other suspects who are still on the run.
“The Anambra State Police Command assures the public that further developments will be communicated in due course. The Command equally reiterates its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that justice is served.”
