Femi Adebayo Announces Plans for a ‘Seven Doors’ Sequel

Femi Adebayo, the acclaimed Nollywood actor, filmmaker, and producer, has revealed that he is developing a sequel to “Seven Doors,” his directorial debut. The announcement signals a continuation of the story introduced in the original production and reflects Adebayo’s commitment to building on the success of his earlier work.Released in December 2024, “Seven Doors” was presented as a six-part miniseries and received widespread critical recognition.

The production earned several nominations and victories at prominent Nollywood award ceremonies, including the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards and the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). Its strong reception established the series as a notable achievement in Adebayo’s filmmaking career.

During an appearance on VJ Adams Live, Adebayo described the reflective process he follows when preparing for new projects, particularly sequels. He explained that he returns to his earlier films and studies them carefully, using the viewing process to assess what worked, recognize weaknesses, and identify ways to improve the next installment.

“I always watch my movies after they’ve been released, especially when I’m about to produce another one. For example, before making the sequel to ‘Jagun Jagun’, I watched the first installment—same with ‘Ageshinkole’.

Now, as I plan the sequel to ‘Seven Doors’, I keep watching the original to see how I can do better,” he said.Adebayo also highlighted the value of public response in shaping his creative decisions. Rather than focusing only on praise, he said he deliberately reads both favorable and unfavorable reactions to his films.

In his view, audience comments provide useful insight into viewers’ experiences and help him determine which aspects of his work require further development. “I make it a point to read both positive and negative comments on my films because they help me understand what I can improve.”“Seven Doors” went on to achieve major recognition in 2025, earning the awards for “Best Lead Actress” and “Best Lead Actor” at the AMVCA.

With the original series receiving both critical acclaim and industry honors, expectations are likely to remain high as Adebayo works toward delivering a sequel that improves on and expands the first installment. At that year’s BON Awards, the series earned recognition across four categories, taking home honors for ‘Best Production Design’, ‘Best Special Effect’, ‘Best Series’, and ‘Best Cinematography’. These awards highlighted the strength of its visual presentation, technical execution, and overall storytelling.
