联邦执行委员会批准退休联邦公务员可获得相当于其年薪100%的退职金。

A new exit benefit plan that will give departing federal government officials a gratuity equal to 100% of their total yearly salary has been authorized by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The federation’s head of civil service office in Abuja released a statement on Thursday. It announced the decision. The decision will go into effect on January 1, 2026.

In addition to benefits under the current contributory pension plan, federal government servants who have worked for at least ten years will get the gratuity upon retirement.

The statement claims that the permission came after lengthy discussions and technical advice from an interministerial technical committee established by the federation’s head of civil serviceIn order to create what it called a sustainable implementation framework, the committee collaborated with the National Pension Commission, the Federation’s Budget Office, and the Federation’s office of the accountant-general.

The head of the federation’s civil service, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, praised the council for endorsing the proposal and called it a significant step toward enhancing the wellbeing of federal civil servants.

According to her, the ruling showed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration values the commitment and sacrifices made by public employees.

“This approval is a profound acknowledgement of the invaluable contributions of our civil servants who have dedicated their productive years to national development and public service,” she stated.

“The exit benefit plan greatly improves our officers’ retirement benefits and increases trust in the federal government’s dedication to their well-being.

“Walson-Jack stated that comprehensive implementation guidelines would be released later and that the project is in keeping with ongoing changes intended to create a more driven and performance-driven civil service.
