European powerhouse has made official offers for Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.

In a significant development reported by Metro on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the Turkish football powerhouse Galatasaray has reportedly submitted official transfer proposals to Arsenal for two of their promising young talents: Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri. The Super Lig giants are actively seeking to bolster their squad with these acquisitions as they prepare for the upcoming season, aiming to solidify their dominance in the Turkish league and potentially make an impact in European competitions.

According to the claims of prominent Turkish journalist Haluk Yurekli, Galatasaray has formally approached Arsenal with offers for both the established winger Martinelli and the emerging academy prospect Nwaneri. Yurekli highlighted Nwaneri’s potential, describing him as a highly-rated young attacking midfielder, aged 19, who has already garnered considerable attention from various Premier League clubs. He emphasized that Galatasaray’s official bid for Nwaneri was presented concurrently with their offer for Martinelli, indicating a concerted effort to secure both players.

This latest news emerges amidst a backdrop of growing speculation and uncertainty surrounding the long-term futures of both Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri at the Emirates Stadium. Martinelli, in particular, has been a subject of transfer interest from other European clubs, with Italian giants Roma previously reported to have made inquiries about his availability. Meanwhile, Nwaneri, despite his youth, has also been linked with a number of clubs, reportedly due to a lack of consistent first-team opportunities during his recent loan spell at French Ligue 1 side Marseille, which may have hindered his development.

A potential move to Galatasaray could present a diverse array of opportunities for both players, contingent upon Arsenal’s strategic decisions regarding their squad composition and future plans. Reports originating from Sabah suggest that Galatasaray’s manager, Okan Buruk, has indeed sanctioned the club’s pursuit of these two Arsenal talents, giving his approval for the necessary negotiations. The Turkish champions are reportedly exploring the possibility of loan agreements for both players. Specifically, their proposal for Martinelli might include an option to purchase the player permanently at the conclusion of the loan spell. Such a structure would offer Galatasaray a strategic advantage, allowing them to strengthen their squad with high-caliber players without immediately committing to a substantial permanent transfer fee, thus managing their financial outlay effectively.

However, Arsenal’s management, under Mikel Arteta, may be hesitant to sanction the departure of both players simultaneously. Arteta is reportedly keen on enhancing his attacking options for the upcoming campaign and might be reluctant to deplete his squad depth by losing two attacking assets within the same transfer window. While Bukayo Saka remains an undisputed starter on the right wing when fit, Arsenal requires significant depth and versatility across their wide attacking positions to compete effectively in multiple competitions. Players like Noni Madueke, Christos Tzolis, and Max Dowman are also mentioned as potential contributors in these areas, but the combined departure of Martinelli and Nwaneri would undoubtedly represent a considerable reduction in Arteta’s attacking options and flexibility.

Gabriel Martinelli’s potential departure could prove particularly challenging to mitigate. The dynamic Brazilian international has consistently featured in over 50 appearances for Arsenal in each of the last two seasons, a testament to his integral role and importance within the squad, even amidst fierce competition for starting places. His electrifying pace, direct attacking style, and ability to effectively operate on either flank have established him as a crucial asset for Arteta. Ethan Nwaneri’s situation, however, presents a slightly different scenario. At just 19 years of age, the England youth international is at a critical juncture in his career where consistent first-team exposure is paramount for his continued development. Consequently, a loan move could prove highly beneficial if Arsenal believes he would gain more regular playing time and experience at another club. Nevertheless, it is highly probable that the Gunners would prefer a temporary arrangement that allows them to retain control over Nwaneri’s long-term future, rather than agreeing to a permanent transfer at this formative stage of his promising career.
