Danny Welbeck leads all English Premier League scorers.

Danny Welbeck has achieved a significant milestone during the 2025/26 Premier League season, establishing himself as the top English goal scorer and further extending his distinguished career. The Brighton striker accomplished this on Matchday 34 during a challenging match against Chelsea, where he composedly scored his 13th league goal of the season. This goal enabled him to surpass Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, who is just behind with 12 goals.

At 35, Welbeck has garnered widespread acclaim for his performances this season. His consistent goal-scoring, coupled with his work rate and tactical intelligence, has established him as a key component of Brighton’s offensive strategy. Despite encountering injuries earlier in his career, he has shown remarkable perseverance, sustaining both fitness and form in a fiercely competitive league.

This latest goal also marks a personal milestone for Welbeck in a single Premier League season. Furthermore, it equals Brighton’s highest individual scoring record in the top flight, previously achieved by Glenn Murray during the 2018/19 campaign. Reaching this benchmark underscores Welbeck’s significance to the club and highlights his capacity to perform in crucial moments.

Beyond statistics, Welbeck’s impact extends to leadership. His experience has proven invaluable within the team, as he mentors younger players while upholding high standards on the field. His contributions reflect not only technical skill but also professionalism and resolve.

The current league standings for English goalscorers show Welbeck leading with 13 goals, closely followed by Gibbs-White on 12. Although the gap remains small, Welbeck’s current form indicates that he is well placed to sustain his advantage as the season advances.

Overall, Welbeck’s performances this season support the notion that age does not inherently restrict performance at the highest level. His career exemplifies resilience, adaptability, and sustained excellence in elite football.
