CREDICORP rolls out new credit scheme in Ogun

CREDICO State Abuja, Nigeria – CREDICORP, a prominent financial institution, has officially launched a new credit scheme aimed at bolstering economic growth and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within Ogun State. The initiative, announced at a recent press conference, is designed to provide accessible and affordable financing to entrepreneurs and businesses operating in various sectors across the state. The new credit facility, named the “Ogun SME Growth Fund,” will offer tailored loan products with competitive interest rates and flexible repayment terms.

This strategic move by CREDICORP is anticipated to address a significant gap in the market, providing much-needed capital for businesses to expand their operations, create employment opportunities, and contribute more effectively to the state’s economy. Officials emphasized that the scheme prioritizes sectors identified as key drivers of economic development in Ogun, including agriculture, manufacturing, and technology.

During the launch event, the Managing Director of CREDICORP, Mr. Adebayo Oladapo, highlighted the institution’s commitment to fostering financial inclusion and empowering local businesses. “Our objective with the Ogun SME Growth Fund is to be more than just a lender; we aim to be a partner in the growth journey of Ogun State’s entrepreneurs,” Mr. Oladapo stated. He further explained that the application process has been streamlined to ensure ease of access, with a focus on supporting both new and existing businesses that demonstrate viable growth potential and a commitment to ethical business practices.

Further details provided at the press conference indicated that the scheme will operate through a multi-stage application and vetting process designed to ensure that funds are allocated to deserving businesses. This includes comprehensive business plan assessments, feasibility studies, and credit risk evaluations. CREDICORP has also announced plans to offer advisory services and financial literacy training to beneficiaries, equipping them with the necessary skills to manage their finances effectively and maximize the benefits of the credit facility.

These support services are seen as crucial for the long-term sustainability and success of the businesses that will participate in the scheme. The Ogun State Government has expressed its support for the initiative, recognizing its potential to stimulate economic activity and create jobs. A representative from the State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, who attended the launch, lauded CREDICORP’s proactive approach and pledged the government’s cooperation in ensuring the scheme’s success. The ministry anticipates that the influx of capital will lead to increased production, enhanced competitiveness for local industries, and a general uplift in the economic well-being of the state’s residents.

The Ogun SME Growth Fund is expected to commence disbursement of funds in the coming weeks, following the initial application period. CREDICORP has set up dedicated channels for inquiries and applications, encouraging interested entrepreneurs to visit their regional offices or the company’s official website for further information and to download application forms.

The institution has also indicated plans to monitor the progress of businesses that receive funding, offering ongoing support and guidance to ensure the optimal utilization of the credit provided. This proactive approach to post-disbursement support is a hallmark of CREDICORP’s commitment to fostering sustainable business development.
