Access Bank Plc has vehemently refuted a circulating notice of alleged operational shutdown, which has been erroneously disseminated across social media platforms and popular messaging applications like WhatsApp.
The financial institution has issued a strong assurance to its valued customers, stakeholders, and the wider public, emphasizing its robust financial standing and uninterrupted operational capacity. This clarification was formally communicated through an official statement released by the bank, wherein it unequivocally affirmed that all its banking operations, including those of its various subsidiaries, are functioning seamlessly and continue to provide uninterrupted, high-quality services to its clientele.
Furthermore, Access Bank disclosed its active collaboration with pertinent regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies to meticulously identify the individuals or entities responsible for fabricating and propagating this misleading information. The bank has unequivocally stated its intention to pursue legal recourse against any party found to be complicit in this act, in strict adherence to the provisions of applicable laws.
In a bid to educate and deter future occurrences, Access Bank reminded the public of the legal ramifications associated with the creation and dissemination of false information. Specifically, it highlighted Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024, which criminalizes the act of spreading deceptive information intended to incite public alarm, tarnish reputations, or erode confidence in established institutions.
Consequently, the bank has earnestly implored members of the public to completely disregard the spurious shutdown notice and to exercise caution by refraining from sharing or forwarding it through any channels.
It also strongly advised its customers and all stakeholders to exclusively rely on information disseminated through Access Bank’s official and duly verified communication channels for accurate updates.
