Acclaimed comedian Anita Asuoha, widely recognized by her stage name Real Warri Pikin, has made the difficult decision to cancel her highly anticipated upcoming performance in Warri, located in Delta State. The reason cited for this unfortunate turn of events is the presence of what she has described as “unfortunate divisions” within society. This announcement was made via a heartfelt statement shared on her official Instagram account, where the popular entertainer expressed her profound disappointment regarding the persistent and, in her view, counterproductive divisions that plague a society that should instead be fostering unity and togetherness.
In her statement, Real Warri Pikin articulated her dismay, saying, “It is deeply disappointing that, at this stage in our society, we are still confronted with division where there should be unity.” She further elaborated on the rationale behind the cancellation, explaining that the show, which was slated to take place in Warri within the coming weeks, had to be called off due to circumstances directly stemming from these ongoing societal rifts. “It is therefore with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my Warri show, which was scheduled to take place in a few weeks, due to circumstances arising from the unfortunate divisions currently at play,” she wrote, conveying the weight of her decision.
Despite this significant setback, Real Warri Pikin was keen to emphasize that this cancellation would not in any way diminish the strength or reach of her brand, nor would it restrict the expansive scope of her professional endeavors. She asserted, “But I need to make something very clear. The Real Warri Pikin brand is bigger than where I was born.” She elaborated on this point, stating, “I am not limited by my local government. I am not defined only by where my father comes from or where my mother comes from.” This declaration underscored her belief that her identity and the impact of her work transcend geographical or tribal boundaries.
The comedian further clarified that her representation and influence extend far beyond her immediate community. She asserted her role as a representative for a much broader audience, encompassing individuals across Delta State, the entirety of Nigeria, and indeed, the African continent. “I represent every local government in Delta State. I represent Delta State. I represent Nigeria. I represent Africa. And as a woman, I represent women across tribes, races and borders,” she declared with conviction. She emphatically stated, “There are no limitations to what God has called me to do on this earth, and I will not allow anyone to reduce that calling to geography, tribe or politics.”
Real Warri Pikin also took the opportunity to reaffirm her deep-seated affection and commitment to Delta State, Nigeria, and Africa as a whole. She pledged to continue leveraging her platform and her considerable talents to make positive contributions to society. “I love my state deeply. I love my country. I love my continent. And I will continue to work, build and use every gift God has given me to contribute positively to the places and people I represent,” she added, reinforcing her dedication.
The comedian expressed her sincere gratitude to her numerous fans and supporters who have offered her solace and encouragement during this challenging period. “To everyone who has stood by me, made calls, offered counsel, encouraged me and comforted me through this period, thank you. I do not take your support for granted,” she stated, acknowledging their invaluable support.
Furthermore, she conveyed that she harbored no ill will towards those she believed had played a role in the circumstances leading to the cancellation. “And to those whose actions have contributed to the division that has brought us here, I hold no bitterness towards you,” she said. Her message concluded with a powerful prayer and a hopeful outlook: “My prayer is simply that God gives us all the wisdom to understand that we achieve far more when we build together than when we divide ourselves. The show may be cancelled, but the vision is not.”
In her concluding remarks, Real Warri Pikin resolutely reaffirmed her identity and her unwavering commitment to her artistic mission. “I am Real Warri Pikin. I am proudly Delta. I am proudly Nigerian. And I will continue to do what God has called me to do,” she affirmed, leaving no doubt about her enduring purpose.
