In a powerful and urgent address, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the esteemed General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has called upon the Federal Government of Nigeria to take a firm stand against the escalating threat of terrorism that has plagued the nation. During a recent video shared on the social media platform 𝕏, he made a compelling plea for the government to impose a 90-day ultimatum on the nation’s security chiefs, demanding that they devise and implement strategies to eradicate terrorism or step down from their positions.

Pastor Adeboye’s impassioned appeal comes in light of growing concerns about the deteriorating security landscape in Nigeria, where terror attacks and kidnappings have become alarmingly frequent. In his remarks, he articulated his belief that accountability is crucial for the nation’s security leaders, emphasizing that they must deliver tangible results in the ongoing battle against these entrenched threats.

Addressing the government directly, Adeboye expressed a sense of urgency, advocating for definitive and immediate action to curb the violence that has wreaked havoc on communities across the country. He stated, “If I were asked to convey a message to our government, I would say, ‘Act swiftly! Tell our security chiefs that they must eliminate these terrorists within 90 days, or they should be prepared to resign.'”

Moreover, he highlighted the importance of targeting not only the terrorists themselves but also the financiers and supporters who enable these violent acts. Adeboye urged that when issuing directives to the security forces, it should be made abundantly clear that their mandate extends beyond simply neutralizing immediate threats—there must be a concerted effort to expose and dismantle the networks that provide support to these criminals, regardless of their societal status or influence.

In reflecting on previous experiences, Adeboye recalled a time when he advised a former president of Nigeria to deliver a similar ultimatum to security officials. Unfortunately, as he noted, while that directive was indeed issued, it ultimately lacked the enforcement necessary to bring about real change by the time the deadline arrived. This past experience, he argued, underscores a pressing need for a stronger political will and a greater commitment to enforcing security measures that can restore peace and safety to Nigeria.

Pastor Adeboye’s remarks resonate deeply with the ongoing national dialogue regarding security, accountability, and the urgent need for effective governance in the face of crises. As he continues to advocate for decisive action against terror, his call to arms is a reminder that the protection of lives and properties in Nigeria is not merely the responsibility of the government alone, but a collective duty that demands the involvement and support of all citizens. The clock is ticking, and as Adeboye emphasizes, the time for decisive action is now.
