Ozuna: I’ve been in Abia for three months without electricity. I’m saying this on television and challenge the governor to dispute it.

Actress Doris Umezie Rike Ozuna has reportedly expressed her intention to run for governor of Abia State while delivering a strong critique of the performance of the current administration.During an appearance on Sahara TV on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Ozuna said she had spent three months in Abia and encountered what she described as persistent electricity shortages throughout her stay. She explained that she lived in her family home during that period but frequently had no power, arguing that the situation was unacceptable for residents of the state.“I have been in Abia for three good months, no light.

I slept in my family house; I don’t have light,” Ozuna said.Based on her personal experience, the actress claimed that the current government had failed to provide meaningful development since former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu left office. She said her observations during her time in the state led her to conclude that the administration had not achieved anything significant for Abia.Ozuna also questioned the government’s record regarding Ariaria International Market. In particular, she disputed suggestions about which administration was responsible for constructing and equipping parts of the market. According to her account, the section she referenced was developed under Ikpeazu’s administration, including the installation of a lift.

She identified John Okeiyi Kalu as the commissioner involved during that period and said she had been part of the government at the time, presenting that experience as the basis for her statements.“I am saying this on national TV. I dare the governor to challenge me; he didn’t build Ariaria,” she declared. Her remarks therefore combine an apparent political ambition with direct criticism of the incumbent administration’s record on infrastructure, electricity supply, and economic development.

At the same time, Ozuna’s statements about the market’s construction, the installation of facilities, and the state’s electricity situation remain allegations attributed to her and would need to be independently verified before being accepted as established facts. No reliable search result from Sahara Reporters or another major news organization was available to independently confirm the interview details or the reported declaration of her intention to contest the governorship. The relevant video segment is indicated as running from 3:56 to 4:15.
