Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), expressed his deep concern about the troubling reports that terrorists can order citizens to abandon their homes without facing any consequences. He believes this situation is incredibly distressing and simply unacceptable. In a heartfelt message shared on his verified 𝕏 account on Sunday, titled ‘A Breakdown of Governance and Humanity,’ Peter Obi emphasized that all Nigerians should have the right to live in peace, free from the threats of violence. He also spoke about the serious issue of insecurity in Nigeria, especially in the North, and noted how non-state actors have taken on roles that should belong to the government, influencing where people can live and under what conditions.

He shared, “What we’re seeing in Borgaja and other communities in Sokoto State, as well as across our wonderful country, is quite concerning. It shows us there’s a real need for improvement in governance and caring for one another.“It’s really heartbreaking to hear that some individuals feel they can tell others to leave their homes without any repercussions. This situation suggests that, in some areas, groups outside of our government have taken on roles they shouldn’t have—deciding who can live where and under what circumstances.“We can do better as a nation! It’s troubling to think that people are following orders from these groups instead of their own government.
I’ve always believed that progress is impossible when people are living in fear.“This is more than just a security matter; it’s a call for all of us to come together.
The main duty of any government is to ensure the safety and well-being of its people. Every Nigerian deserves to live in peace, free from fear.”
