Nigerian man Chidi A. Okoroafor has recounted the disturbing story of a young hotel owner who allegedly assumed control of his late father’s business at the age of 28 and was reportedly killed two years later, at age 30.In a Facebook post, Okoroafor alleged that the young man mistreated several female employees at the hotel by making unwanted advances toward them. According to the account, workers who rejected him were allegedly dismissed or had their wages withheld for extended periods. Some employees reportedly left the hotel without receiving as much as three or four months of unpaid salaries.
Okoroafor wrote that the man’s mother became concerned about her son’s alleged conduct and asked him to intervene because of his relationship with the late hotel owner. He agreed to speak with the young man and said he tried to approach the conversation diplomatically. However, the discussion reportedly ended badly when the young man became offended and left the venue abruptly. The Facebook user further alleged that the hotel owner had made unwanted advances toward a mature widow who had worked at the establishment as a cleaner for 11 years. Rather than accept the alleged proposition, the woman reportedly resigned. Okoroafor emphasized the significant age difference, noting that the young man was around the age of her second son.According to Okoroafor, the young man was later attacked and hacked to death outside the hotel on a Thursday night.
He claimed that a group of young men gathered in front of the establishment at approximately 11 p.m., making loud noises. The hotel owner allegedly went outside to determine what was happening, after which the men attacked him.Okoroafor also claimed that residents in nearby buildings heard the attackers referring to the man’s alleged treatment of female workers. They reportedly made comments suggesting that he should get up and continue sleeping with women. He further alleged that one of the attackers made a disturbing remark about the victim’s body after the assault.
Following the reported killing, Okoroafor said he contacted the man’s mother to express his condolences. He also encouraged her to resume managing the family hotel and consider inviting back former employees who had allegedly left without receiving their outstanding wages. In concluding the account, Okoroafor wrote that the young man took over the hotel at 28 and died at 30, adding the expression “Uwa ntoor!” to convey the tragedy and harshness of the situation. The allegations have not been independently verified.
