Arsenal’s pursuit of Leicester City midfielder Louis Page has encountered a significant setback as Manchester United emerge as the front-runners for the highly-rated teenager. According to BBC Sport’s senior football correspondent, Sami Mokbel, United are actively working on a deal to secure the 18-year-old, who has already made 22 first-team appearances for Leicester and is recognized as an England Under-20 international.

In a competitive summer transfer window, both clubs have been busy bolstering their squads. United have brought in six key signings, including midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, while Arsenal, fresh off their Premier League title win under manager Mikel Arteta, have completed four high-profile deals, headlined by the £75 million acquisition of Brazilian international Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United. As the situation develops, Mokbel reported on August 9 that Aston Villa is also expressing interest in Page, complicating the race among the three clubs. “Manchester United are working on a deal for Leicester’s teenage midfielder Louis Page,” Mokbel noted on X at 1:17 PM. He added that discussions are ongoing, with both Arsenal and Villa showing considerable interest.

Further insight from Sky Sports News’ reporter Danyal Khan indicated that Page himself favors a move to Old Trafford. “Understand Page is keen on joining #mufc this summer,” Khan tweeted, highlighting the midfielder’s accolade as the EFL Apprentice of the Year last season, which underscores his potential.

Notably, Arsenal has faced challenges in their efforts to sign Page, having reportedly seen their own bid rejected. As stated by Stretford Paddock, a Manchester United-focused outlet, Page’s affinity for United, having grown up supporting the club, has tilted the scales in their favor. This has left Arsenal manager Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta scrambling to regain momentum in the transfer saga.

With both Arsenal and United anticipating a return to the Champions League for the 2026/27 season under their respective managers, the stakes are high as they vie for Page’s signature. As the clock ticks on the summer transfer window, all eyes will be on the developments surrounding this promising young talent.
