Arsenal supporters have grown frustrated with a particular player following the team’s defeat to Manchester City in a pivotal Premier League championship match.
Arsenal traveled to Manchester having not secured an away victory against their title rivals since 2015 and were immediately put on the back foot. Rayan Cherki continued his fine recent form by cleverly advancing into the box and scoring.
Mikel Arteta’s team were granted a reprieve not long after, as a mistake from Gianluigi Donnarumma allowed Kai Havertz to take advantage and level the score, visibly frustrating Pep Guardiola.
Nevertheless, Manchester City emerged victorious, with Erling Haaland netting the winning goal shortly past the hour mark, increasing the pressure on the league leaders as the campaign nears its end.
Manchester City will surpass Arsenal in the standings with a victory over Burnley on Wednesday evening.
Arsenal have not secured the Premier League title in 22 years, and supporters appear to have grown impatient with a key figure, with many advocating for his departure irrespective of whether the team wins the championship.
That figure is club captain Martin Ødegaard, whose display against City came under intense criticism from Arsenal fans, who are dissatisfied with his underwhelming season to date.
Ødegaard has managed only one goal and five assists in a campaign disrupted by injury, leading many supporters to believe a change may be needed in Arteta’s midfield for the upcoming season.

One supporter remarked: “Should Arteta depart in the summer, I firmly think Odegaard must also leave; it is time for a fresh start.”
A second supporter commented: “It is almost certain that Odegaard will be sold this summer.”
A third supporter stated: “Odegaard needs to be sold this summer; it is time for a new direction.”
A fourth supporter concluded: “I appreciate everything Odegaard has contributed to the club, but he is no longer performing at his previous level.”
Persistent injuries have clearly affected the 27-year-old’s performance this season, and his significance to Arteta is evident from his appointment as team captain.
However, not all supporters are persuaded, including club icon Tony Adams, who argues that Declan Rice should assume his role.
Adams noted: “Following my remarks about Odegaard, Arteta consulted the players, asking, ‘Who do you want as captain?’ Their response was predictable—they would not openly disagree with him, so they naturally expressed support for Odegaard.”
What is the purpose of having a manager in that case? You select your captain, establish your rapport, appoint your vice-captains, and build team cohesion.
“In my view, Declan is a leader. I believe he is an exceptional leader and an outstanding player, and I have previously expressed that I consider him to be the natural choice for Arsenal captain.”
