According to Football London, defender Gabriel Magalhães was substituted during Arsenal’s FA Cup quarterfinal loss to Southampton on Saturday, leaving the team concerned about his fitness.

The Gunners extended a challenging run of form and were eliminated from another competition after suffering a disheartening 2-1 loss at St Mary’s. Gabriel’s injury, which prevented him from finishing the game, added to the loss.
Following what appeared to be an issue, the Brazilian centre back was changed in the second half. Mikel Arteta, the manager, confirmed that the defender had requested the change.
“I’m not sure. In his post-match press conference, Arteta stated, “We don’t know precisely what it is, but he felt something.” “However, it is not ideal when a player requests to be replaced.”
Concerns regarding the severity of the problem were raised when Gabriel was subsequently saw on the bench with an ice pack on his knee. Arsenal was already under pressure after a disappointing performance, and his early departure made the evening even more challenging.
This season, the defender has already experienced injury difficulties; earlier in the season, a thigh issue kept him out of several games. As Arsenal gets ready for a hectic schedule in the next several days, his most recent setback will be intently watched.
After Gabriel was hurt, Saliba took his place in the back line as Arsenal tried to finish the game. Nevertheless, Southampton eventually secured their spot in the next round since the team was unable to turn the game around.
As they prepare for a challenging schedule of games, including a UEFA Champions League quarterfinal matchup with Sporting CP and a Premier League matchup with AFC Bournemouth, Arsenal will now have to wait anxiously for a complete medical update on Gabriel.
