Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced strong opposition to Atiku Abubakar, the leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), asserting that Nigeria’s treasury should not be entrusted to him. In a Facebook post on Saturday, Igbokwe referenced former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s remarks, stating that Atiku is untrustworthy.
“Let me drop this here so that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will hear it. We cannot trust him with the treasury of Nigeria,” Igbokwe wrote. He emphasized that Obasanjo had made it clear that Atiku cannot be trusted.
Tensions between Obasanjo and Atiku have escalated, with Obasanjo accusing his former vice president of attempting to orchestrate his impeachment during his tenure. In his defense, Atiku criticized Obasanjo’s allegations regarding bribery related to the late Rt. Hon. Ghali Umar Na’Abba, calling it reckless and unfair.
Igbokwe’s comments add to the ongoing discourse about Atiku’s presidential aspirations, as he reiterates the caution previously expressed by Obasanjo.
