Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State shares some positive news! He believes that despite fuel prices nearly doubling, President Bola Tinubu is successfully protecting Nigeria from the global fuel crisis stemming from the conflict in the Middle East.
Fuel prices have soared globally following the barricade at the Strait of Hormuz, a vital 30-mile-wide shipping lane between Iran and Oman!This important route connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the open ocean. As a crucial global oil chokepoint, about 20% of the world’s total liquid petroleum consumption flows through it every day!
During a delightful visit from members of the City Boy Movement at the Government House in Owerri this weekend, Uzodimma shared some exciting news! He mentioned that Tinubu’s reforms have successfully kept fuel prices stable and avoided shortages, even with the happenings in the Middle East.He happily noted that despite the ongoing conflict in the region, the naira has remained steady at N1,240, showcasing resilience while many other African currencies experience fluctuations.
“Nigeria has great potential for growth as the President took office in 2023.“Despite some uncertainties in the Middle East, particularly with the situation in Iran, fuel prices have remained stable, showcasing the resilience of the Nigerian naira on the African continent!
The exchange rate of the U.S. Dollar and South Africa has increased, but in Nigeria, we’re excited to see our exchange rate holding steady at N1,240 because we’ve stopped funding the subsidy,” Uzodimma shared joyfully.He celebrated the removal of the subsidy for helping to stabilize the exchange rate and enabling the Dangote Refinery to purchase crude in naira!
He happily highlighted that the global community now recognizes Nigeria’s recovery, encouraging everyone to come together to support this exciting new development journey.While warmly welcoming a delegation of the movement, led by its Patron, Mr. Seyi Tinubu, and Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, the governor celebrated their visit as a joyful “homecoming.”He referred to the initiative as a “new mentality” aimed at equipping young Nigerians for future leadership roles.
The governor expressed his appreciation for their efforts to support and provide care for the sick and vulnerable in hospitals.
He joyfully pointed out the South-East region’s improved infrastructure and the prevailing political harmony.He encouraged the delegation to embody the spirit of “Renewed Hope,” ensuring that Tinubu’s achievements bring joy and inspiration to every grassroots and urban community.
