A potential tragedy was averted in the early hours of Friday when a fully loaded 40-foot container truck collided with another 12-tyre truck on the Lekki–Epe Expressway in Lagos.

It has come to our attention that a collision disrupted the smooth flow of traffic in the affected area; however, there were no reported casualties at the scene. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) informed that the 12-tyre truck had partially deviated from the roadway, with its front tyre positioned within the drainage at Igbara near Osapa Bus Stop heading towards Jakande at the time of the incident.

The agency announced that intensive efforts are underway to recover and evacuate both vehicles to restore the smooth flow of traffic. “Officers are on-site managing the traffic situation to prevent any further congestion,” it stated in a post on X.
