Amaechi: He does not possess any property in his hometown. He expresses apprehension about constructing a home there—Wobodo.

The Honorable Charles Wobodo, Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area in Rivers State, has expressed criticism towards former Governor Rotimi Amaechi. He asserts that, despite having held multiple influential government positions, Amaechi has not constructed even a modest residence within his own community, suggesting a reluctance to establish a home there.

Wobodo took the opportunity to chat about Amaechi’s connection to his community while kindly addressing recent claims about the former governor being attacked by some individuals in the state. In a friendly interview on Channels Television, Wobodo warmly asserted that no one from the Omagwa community or the Ikwerre local government had anything to do with any incidents involving Amaechi. He shared that he was in the community for a lovely burial ceremony when he heard some unexpected gunshots nearby.

He indicated that the gunfire compelled both residents and visitors to seek safety. Additionally, he mentioned that the community subsequently learned that Amaechi and some members of his security team had traversed the area while en route to his hometown of Ubima, despite the incident taking place in Omagwa.

Wobodo asserted that shots were fired from Amaechi’s convoy, leading to a situation of panic within the community and causing damage to a security vehicle that had been provided by the local government to support security operations. He further contended that Amaechi’s political discontent arose from dissatisfaction among his constituents, alleging that the former governor did not fulfill his developmental obligations to the community despite serving eight years as speaker, eight years as governor, and subsequently as a minister.

Wobodo further contended that Amaechi is attempting to construct a political narrative aimed at garnering sympathy and attention from his national political allies by positioning himself as a victim. He stated, “The constituents are dissatisfied as he has failed to deliver developmental progress throughout his tenure in government. After eight years as governor, he has not made significant advancements in his community. He does not even possess a modest residence in his locality and seems hesitant to undertake the construction of a home there.

What type of individual shall we refer to him as? Why does he perceive the situation as though he believes the government is opposed to him? Additionally, based on our observations, it seems he aims to generate news coverage and subsequently return here in an attempt to portray himself as a victim.
